Sarah Tinkler-Josephi is a registered speech language pathologist (SLP) with the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO) and Speech-Language and Audiology Canada (SAC). She earned her Master’s of Science in Speech-Language Pathology and Audiology from the University of Alberta in 2009.

Sarah was born and raised in Thunder Bay and has worked professionally in Thunder Bay and Toronto. Sarah originally started her professional career here in Thunder Bay working at George Jeffrey Children’s Centre (GJCC), providing clinical speech and language services to children in the school-age program. Following her time at GJCC, she worked in Toronto providing services to children and adults with speech, language and cognitive-communication needs, including those with developmental delays, traumatic brain injury, stroke, dementia, and other neurogenic disorders.

Sarah has extensive professional experience working with both adults and children, with a wide variety of speech, language, cognitive-communication and swallowing needs. She also gained extensive experience with eating and swallowing disorders. In addition, Sarah has been committed to helping staff in other professional settings gain knowledge and experience with facilitating the communication and swallowing needs of individuals. This has included developing and implementing several educational programs for staff and families, one-on-one training and workshop presentations.

After having two wonderful children, she and her husband decided to move back home to Thunder Bay to be close to family. She is very excited to be back in the city she was raised in and to be able to raise her own family in Thunder Bay, as well as grow her professional career once again providing services to individuals in Thunder Bay and North Western Ontario.

Sarah is highly interested and passionate about working with individuals whose lives have been impacted by speech, language, cognitive-communication and/or swallowing difficulties. She strongly believes in collaborating with clients, family members and other pertinent team members in order to provide support in achieving goals in a functional and meaningful manner. Sarah’s interventions have focused on improvements in the way her clients vocalize, listen, make use of language, read, write, communicate, interact socially, access higher-level cognitive-communication skills, as well as safety eat and swallow.

Sarah is also passionate about expanding upon her education, and is dedicated towards increasing her knowledge and expertise in various areas related to speech-language pathology assessment and treatment protocols, ensuring her ability to provide current, evidence-based treatment. She is extremely excited to be back in Thunder Bay and to be able to provide services to those in need.

Welcome home Sarah! We are so honoured to have you join our practice!
